About Us
Pratahkal, a Hindi daily newspaper published from Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, and Udaipur was founded in 1979 in Udaipur. It was inaugurated by Shri L. K. Advani, the then Central Information and Broadcasting minister, in Udaipur. Pratahkal is a state-level newspaper in Rajasthan whereas it has been categorized in ‘A’ class in Maharashtra. It is approved by the Central Government as well.
HOW WE STARTED
Pratahkal was started by Shri Suresh Goyal, the eminent writer and noted journalist of the country, who came from the famous Kagzi family of Mewar, the doyen of which late Gopal Lal Kagzi was the pioneer in establishing the first printing press in Udaipur.
Shri Sunil Goyal, the first son of late Kagzi, put Udaipur on the tourist map of the world by publishing guides, travel, and history books on Udaipur and Mewar. Sunil Goyal was the first person to put the beauty of Udaipur’s lakes and palaces in vivid colors on picture postcards for the world to see and admire. Suresh Goyal is the second son of late Kagzi, who by his dedication to journalism has carved a niche for himself in the country, he accompanies Prime Minister on his foreign sojourns and is one of the top-notch editors of the country.
JOURNEY
In a world of newspapers where almost all national newspapers of the country have made a reverse journey from the national capital to the state capital, and from the state capital to district headquarters, Pratahkal is the only newspaper which has accomplished a forward journey of the district to state, and state to national capitals, both political and industrial.
Started in the era of the second liberation of the press in the country, it has seen a see-saw of changing governments and political parties at the center as well states, keeping equidistance from all garnering the supreme interest of its readers in particular and country in general. This is the only reason that despite stiff competition from the likes of Dainik Bhaskar and Rajasthan Patrika, Pratahkal is going great guns and marching ahead.
